Dixon, driving the No. 9 Target Chip Ganassi Racing Chevrolet, recorded a four-lap average speed of 226.760 mph on the 2.5-mile oval and will lead the 33-car field to the green flag in the 200-lap race May 24 (11 a.m. ET on ABC).

Reigning Verizon IndyCar Series champion Will Power (226.350 mph) and Team Penske teammate Simon Pagenaud (226.145 mph) also qualified on the front row under a revised format prompted by a lengthy delay for track repairs following a spectacular crash involving CFH Racing co-owner/driver Ed Carpenter during a morning practice session along with aerodynamic and engine boost changes mandated by INDYCAR.

The scheduled two-day, multi-tier qualifying format was altered by rain May 16 after only two of the 34 entries made qualifying runs. By Verizon IndyCar Series rules, the lap times were deleted.Indy 500 Live Stream

The scheduled May 17 “Fast Nine Shootout,” in which the top entries were slated to return to the track after their initial qualifying attempts for a single four-lap run to determine the Verizon P1 Award winner and the first three rows, was canceled. Instead, each entry took one qualifying attempt to lock in positions 1-30.

Positions 31-33, contested among four drivers, were determined in a separate session. Buddy Lazier, the 1996 Indy 500 winner, did not make the field.
Dixon, a three-time Verizon IndyCar Series champion, won the 2008 Indy 500 from the pole and has five top-five finishes in his 12 “500” starts. Dixon’s 22nd career pole broke a tie with 2003 Indy 500 winner Gil de Ferran for 13th on the Indy car list. He also broke a streak of eight consecutive Verizon IndyCar Series races dating to August 2014 in which a Team Penske driver started from the pole.

“We’re starting in the right place but it’s still a long race. Hopefully, we can replicate what we did in 2008,” said Dixon, who was presented a $100,000 check for winning the pole. “We’re starting on pole for the Indianapolis 500 and now we just have to finish first. I’m just so proud of everybody at Team Target, whether it’s the engineers and everybody that has worked so hard to get the speed out of this car. It was definitely a tough day.”Indianapolis 500 Live Stream

Power, who won the Angie’s List Grand Prix of Indianapolis from the pole on May 9, matched his best Indy 500 start in 2010. Pagenaud’s highest previous start was eighth in 2013.

“I think we have a good chance here, the entire team,” Pagenaud said of the Team Penske foursome that also includes three-time Indy 500 winner Helio Castroneves (qualified fifth) and 2000 race winner Juan Pablo Montoya (qualified 15th). “But the Indy 500 is a bit like the 24 Hours of Le Mans. You’re never ready enough for this race. There’s so many things, nine to 10 pit stops, a yellow can fall out at the wrong time, something can happen in pit lane.

“It can go all right up until the race and something can happen at the last moment where you don’t expect it. I’m just going to keep being like I have been, like pretty non‑emotional about it, and do my job, even though I’m super excited.”

Lap speeds dipped in qualifications compared to practice because of measures taken by INDYCAR in response to the Carpenter incident in morning practice. The No. 20 Fuzzy’s Vodka CFH Racing Chevrolet made rearward contact with the Turn 2 SAFER Barrier and briefly became airborne. Similar separate incidents involving Castroneves and Josef Newgarden also occurred last week in practice.

As a precaution, INDYCAR announced:

— The turbocharger boost level, which was increased from 130 kPa to 140 kPa for “Fast Friday” practice May 15 and scheduled qualifications May 16, was returned to 130 kPa. That relates to about a 40 horsepower reduction to the Chevrolet and Honda 2.2-liter, twin-turbocharged V-6 engines. The boost level will remain at 130 kPa for final practices May 18 and Coors Light Carb Day on May 22, as well as the race.

— The aerodynamic bodywork package that Chevrolet- and Honda-aligned entries qualified with must be utilized in the race. Downforce was increased on the superspeedway platforms for added stability.

“That rule alone will cause the manufacturers to select certain components that are biased toward the race, which in effect will give them more downforce, which is really part of the exercise we’re going through here,” said Derrick Walker, INDYCAR president of competition and operations.

Castroneves turned a lap of 233.474 mph in practice May 16, which was the fastest lap at Indianapolis since the 1996 race when Eddie Cheever Jr. turned the top lap at 236.401 mph. Power recorded the best lap of the practice following the boost level and aerodynamic changes, 227.377 mph.

“At the end of the day, the race is the important thing. We want to qualify well, but winning the race is what we came here to do,” Andretti Autosport director of race operations and engineering Rob Edwards said.

Carpenter’s crew prepared a backup chassis in less than five hours and he participated in the practice preceding qualifications. The third driver in the qualifying order, he recorded a four-lap average of 224.883 mph and qualified 12th.

“When I was upside down in Turn 2 this morning, I didn’t know the delays in the schedule we would have. The way things worked out, it gave the team the time it needed to get the car ready to go,” said Carpenter, who earned the Verizon P1 Award at Indianapolis the past two years. “I didn’t think we expected to win the pole with the morning we had and I’m just thankful to the whole team.”Live Stream Indy 500

A practice session is scheduled for 12:30-4 p.m. (ET) May 18, and the 11 a.m.-noon (ET) session May 22 is the final practice.

Mayweather vs Pacquiao live stream: Time, TV schedule and how to watch online

The “Fight of the Century” seven years in the making is just a day away.
Saturday’s megafight between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao will not be available to stream live online legally — but it would have been streamed legitimately if Pacquiao’s promoter, Top Rank, had its way. The company, run by Bob Arum, has been a pioneer in legal live streaming of boxing events, with several already under its belt, and planned to continue the effort with what certainly would have been the biggest live streamed boxing match ever.

But, according to a Bloomberg Business News, report, the Top Rank plan was kayoed by the two cable networks cooperating to produce the pay-per-view broadcast, who put the kibosh on the whole idea.Mayweather vs Pacquiao Live Stream

“It wasn’t a decision I was in favor of,” Top Rank President, and son-in-law of Bob Arum, Todd duBeof said. “But I understood why they wanted to do it.”

Top Rank has entered into a deal with MLB Advanced Media, the company that produces the MLB.TV online service, which provides live streams of almost every Major League Baseball game, and has each season since 2003, for a subscription fee.

Top Rank struck that deal in 2012, and has since put several fights online, including the controversial bout between Pacquiao and Timothy Bradley that same year, which Pacquiao lost by a highly questionable judge’s decision.

Showtime and HBO have been aggressive in shutting down illegal live streams on the fight before they have a chance to actually go online — though new sites seem to pop up as soon as the sites targeted by lawsuits shut down — but have no interest in streaming the fight legally on their own.

Presumably, a legal online stream would cost about the same as the approximately $100 fee for the pay-per-view broadcast.

“Our focus is on terrestrial TV and a secure method to deliver the Mayweather-Pacquiao event to the masses,” an HBO spokesperson told Bloomberg. The news service also reached out to Showtime, but that network was so uninterested in live streaming, it didn’t bother to provide a response.

Oddly enough, the $100 fight will be broadcast for free in several countries around the world.

Those countries include Mexico, China, Colombia, South Africa, Thailand, and France.

Viewers in the United Kingdom will pay just £19.95 — which is about 30 bucks in American money.

But even in those countries, there will be no legal, live online streaming of the Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Manny Pacquiao megafight.

The attention of the sport’s world will zero in like a laser on the Las Vegas desert Saturday night when pound-for-pound king Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao finally step through the ropes for their long-awaited showdown.

Will Mayweather silence his doubters and finally add the Pac Man to his list of elite-level conquests? Or will Pacquiao become the first man to hang a loss on Money’s sterling record?

Friday evening at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, the two men will meet for the final time ahead of the big fight, and you can follow all the action from the weigh-in right here.

Mayweather is boxing’s undisputed top fighter and biggest box-office draw. He’s never been beaten and rarely challenged in a career spanning world titles in six weight divisions and holds wins over several Hall of Fame or future Hall of Fame fighters. He’s held his tongue throughout this promotion and will look let his fists do the talking in the ring.

Mayweather vs Pacquiao Live PPV INFO

Wow your hairdresser with tales of Mayweather’s wealth and Pacquiao’s upbringing; surprise your accountant with massive numbers; embarrass your ex’s new partner with your superior knowledge of boxing tactics.
And be sure to keep this in your pocket at all times if you are attending a dinner party between now and Saturday – you don’t want to look like a complete idiot.Mayweather vs Pacquiao Live Stream
Why all the hype?
In short, because Mayweather and Pacquiao are widely recognised as the two best boxers in the world – and it is a rare thing to have two all-time greats fighting in the same weight division at the same time.
Back in the 1980s, arguably the sport’s last golden age in the United States, such match-ups were regular occurrences.
Fighters such as Sugar Ray Leonard, Thomas Hearns, Roberto Duran and Marvin Hagler were household names.  But boxing’s disappearance from terrestrial television, the proliferation of governing bodies and boxing’s internecine politics saw the sport recede from the public consciousness.
Boxing needed two genuine superstars to make it the biggest sport in the world again and it found them in Mayweather and Pacquiao.
What have they won?
Mayweather, 38, is unbeaten in 47 professional fights stretching back to 1996 and has won world titles in five different weight classes.
Pacquiao, 36, is a six-weight world champion (some say eight, although that includes a couple of minor belts) but has been beaten five times in 64 fights since turning pro in 1995.  Between them, they have victories over a host of fellow boxing greats, including Oscar de la Hoya, Marco Antonio Barrera, Erik Morales, Shane Mosley, Juan Manuel Marquez, Miguel Cotto and Britain’s Ricky Hatton.
How big is it?
In financial terms, the biggest ever. By miles. Given the myriad revenue streams involved, it is impossible to say how much each fighter will walk away with once the fighting is done.
But it is estimated that once the accountants have done their work, Mayweather will pocket about £90m ($140-$150m) and Pacquiao £60m ($90m-$100m).
That the fight will generate so much money is largely down to the fact that American boxing fans will have to pay almost $100 (£65) to watch the action.  Mayweather-Pacquiao will shatter the records for pay-per-view buys (2.5m for Mayweather versus De la Hoya in 2007) and pay-per-view revenue ($152m for Mayweather versus Saul Alvarez in 2013).
The live gate at the 16,000-capacity MGM Grand Arena will be $74m, more than triple the previous record and more than this year’s Super Bowl, which was watched by 70,000.
Tickets on the resale market are changing hands for six-figure sums, with most of that money finding its way back to the boxers.
Throw in foreign television money, sponsorship and merchandising and you’re looking at double the gross domestic product of the Pacific nationWhat else is at stake?
In boxing terms, Mayweather’s WBC and WBA welterweight titles and the WBO title owned by Pacquiao.
Also on the line is Mayweather’s unbeaten record, while you could argue that Pacquiao doesn’t have as much to lose.
Their fight will also go a long way to defining each other’s careers: whoever wins will be able to claim they were the greatest fighter of their era, rightly or wrongly. As for the loser, there will be an awful lot of soul-searching to do.  Mayweather has banked more than $400m from boxing over his 19-year career and has been the highest-earning athlete in the world for the past three years. Pacquiao’s feats in the ring across two decades have earned him $263m.
Mayweather’s primary residence is a 22,000 square-foot, custom-built mansion in Las Vegas, although he also has a house in Miami.
He also owns two fleets of cars – a black fleet in Vegas, a white fleet in Miami – and his collection includes a couple of Bugattis worth more than $1m each.
He is also the proud owner of a 14-passenger private jet. Oh, and he only wears his trainers once.  PacMan still has a relatively modest abode in his home town of General Santos City, although he did recently splash $12.5m on a gaff in Beverley Hills.
Have they always been so lucky?
Both men had troubled childhoods. Mayweather was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, into a family of boxers – father and trainer Floyd Sr was a welterweight contender and uncle Roger a world champion.
But his mother was a drug addict, while Floyd Sr was once shot in the leg by a fellow drug dealer while holding his son in his arms.  Pacquiao’s family of seven lived in a cardboard shack in the poverty-stricken province of Sarangani  in the Philippines.
He scrounged for food and on some days only drank water. He quit school at 10 and ran away at 15, after his father ate his dog.
For a while, Pacquiao slept rough on the mean streets of Manila.
But like many poor boys before and since, Pacquiao turned to boxing to feed his family, fighting for $2 a pop in the early days.
Is there more to the fight than cash?
Mayweather says no. And not surprisingly, there are those who find Mayweather’s slavish devotion to Mammon  somewhat distasteful.
As such, his fight against Pacquiao – who was raised a Christian but was only recently born again – is being billed by some as a battle between good and evil.
Some commentators have noted that this fight lacks greatness because it lacks a cultural dimension.
This is wide of the mark. Mayweather is rampant capitalism personified, as much a reflection of his era as Muhammad Ali in the 1960s As well as being a terrible braggart, Mayweather, a father of four, has also been a very bad boy. In 2011, he was sentenced to three months in prison after pleading guilty to assaulting his girlfriend at the time.
However, his stint behind bars was delayed on the grounds that the cancellation of his scheduled bout with Puerto Rico’s Cotto would have cost the city of Las Vegas in the region of $100m.
Pacquiao is a more likeable individual. Witness his recent duet with movie star Will Ferrell on an American chat show, or a very amusing advert for a footwear company. Despite his many millions, Pacquiao just seems like a nice, humble bloke.
But Pacquiao has a dark side. He has admitted to adultery in the past – his wife, Jinkee, mother of his five children, was moved to tears when talking about it in a recent documentary – and in 2013 his assets were frozen in the Philippines after it was alleged he owed $50m in taxes. It should be noted, both men do a lot of work for charity. Will it be a good fight?
The smart money is on the fight going the full 12 rounds – and on Mayweather being awarded the decision. And many think those 12 rounds will disappoint.
Mayweather is essentially a defensive boxer and has never been overly concerned about entertaining the fans. Pacquiao, on the other hand, is an all-action fighter – which could play right into Mayweather’s hands.
If Pacquiao chooses a plan of all-out attack, then Mayweather could pick his rival off and win easily. If Pacquiao is more educated, which is more likely, then things could be more intriguing. If both men show each other too much respect, then we could be in for a very dull 12 rounds indeed.
Who wins? According to almost every expert you talk to, Mayweather. Hatton, who lost to both men, calls Mayweather “a genius”.
Hatton’s fellow Brit Amir Khan, who wants to fight the winner, also believes Mayweather will be too clever.
However, Pacquiao does have some heavyweight backing, with former world champions George Foreman and Mike Tyson both picking him to win it.
What next?
If it’s a decent fight, then they will probably do it all again in September.
Mayweather says he only has one more fight left in him – although with Rocky Marciano’s record of 49 fights undefeated in his sights, he might fight on.
Whether Pacquiao chooses to fight on might depend on if he loses and the nature of that defeat.

Live BLog::Mayweather vs. Pacquiao 2015

Welterweight titleholder Manny Pacquiao’s training camp came to end on Monday as he, trainer Freddie Roach and the rest of their team broke camp at Roach’s Wild Card Boxing Club in Hollywood, California. They boarded their team bus for the four-hour drive to Las Vegas, where Pacquiao will fight fellow champion Floyd Mayweather on Saturday night (pay-per-view, 9 ET) at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in their long-awaited fight.Mayweather vs Pacquiao

Pacquiao sparred four rounds on Monday, worked the mitts with Roach, and then hit the road for Vegas.
“Our long, international, boxing nightmare will soon be over,” said Roach. “Boxing has been held hostage by Floyd Mayweather and his antics long enough. Manny is going to stand up to Floyd on [Saturday] and put a bully in his place. On paper — and in the sports books — Manny shouldn’t stand a chance. But neither did David against Goliath. Just remember, Manny has always come out on top when he was the underdog] and you don’t have to look any further than his victories over [Lehlo] Ledwaba, [Marco Antonio] Barrera and [Oscar] De La Hoya.

“As Manny said earlier, ‘It’s time for Floyd to lose.’ Manny is on a mission. This fight is his crusade. The fans of the world are rooting for Manny to win just like they willed this fight to happen. He is their champion. This will be their victory.”

Mayweather does not need to lengthy trip to Las Vegas for fight week. He lives in Las Vegas, about 15 minutes from the MGM Grand.Top Rank promoter Bob Arum changed plans on Monday, deciding to add a public appearance for superstar Manny Pacquiao on Tuesday.

Pacquiao still will not participate in the arrival ceremony at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas to formally kick off fight week for his much-anticipated welterweight title unification bout against Floyd Mayweather.

Pacquiao will instead make an appearance at what Top Rank is calling a free “Las Vegas fan rally” on Tuesday at 11 a.m. PT at Mandalay Bay’s South Convention Center — Bayside C. Doors open at 10 a.m. PT.

Pacquiao, Arum, trainer Freddie Roach, adviser Michael Koncz and assistant trainer Buboy Fernandez — as well as Pacman, the fighter’s beloved Jack Russell Terrier and team mascot — will all be on hand”We have an obligation to the fans and the press,” Arum said. “We just don’t think the grand arrivals are secure enough. It’s like a mob scene in the (MGM Grand) lobby, particularly for this fight. Instead, we’ll have a big ballroom, all roped off. We’ll all be there and we’ll have the rally and then we’ll go with selected press to sit with us and answer their questions.”

Arum had said Friday that Pacquiao would not participate in Tuesday’s official grand arrival ceremonyTypically, the fighters in major bouts make a “grand arrival” through the casino lobby to see the fans, take pictures and do television interviews before being whisked away to meet with Internet and print reporters.

However, the grand arrivals for this fight will instead take place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, site of the fight.

Arum had said he canceled Pacquiao’s appearance because Pacquiao could do “without all the hoopla.”

Arum further said it was unnecessary because Pacquiao is not even staying at the MGM Grand.

Instead, he is staying down the Las Vegas Strip at Mandalay Bay, the MGM property where he always stays when he fights in the city.

“The reason we didn’t announce this on Friday (after pulling out of the grand arrivals) was that we didn’t know if we could get the facility at the Mandalay Bay,” Arum said. “If we didn’t have a facility we couldn’t do it. Mandalay Bay gave us a beautiful ballroom and we’re working on sealing it off. We’ll have Filipino music and entertainment. Manny will come in to see the fans. It will be very nice and very organized.”

Arum has been feuding with MGM Grand officials over a variety of issues, one reason many believe he yanked Pacquiao from the grand arrivals at the casino.

Mayweather’s grand arrival ceremony at the MGM Grand is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. (doors open at 1 p.m.) inside the MGM Grand Garden Arena with entertainment from Doug E. Fresh and performances by comedian Ricky Smiley and the famed Southern University “Human Jukebox” Marching Band.

Then, at 2 p.m. PT, Mayweather will make what Mayweather Promotions said will be an “unforgettable entrance.”

“We’re not interfering with Floyd’s arrival at all,” Arum said. “There’s plenty of time to see both of them.”

Arum said one issue still being argued about between Top Rank and Mayweather Promotions is the order of the televised undercard fights.

Mayweather Promotions wants its televised undercard bout featuring junior featherweight titlist Leo Santa Cruz, who is moving up to featherweight to face journeyman Jose Cayetano in a 10-round nontitle bout, to come right before the main event.

Top Rank wants its pay-per-view bout featuring featherweight titleholder Vasyl Lomachenko defending his world title against Galamlier Rodriguez to be in the co-feature slot.

Mayweather vs Pacquiao 2015

PPV::MayweatheNo matter who wins the richest boxing match in history on May 2, Manny Pacquiao will receive part of his pay the next business day from his promoter, Bob Arum.

“On Monday morning, I will hand Manny a check for $50 million as a down payment, guaranteed,” Arum said.

It is a bit more complicated than that — it is a wire transfer, actually, and 30 percent of it will be shaved off for the Internal Revenue Service, Arum said. But the bottom line is that the long-anticipated championship welterweight match between Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. will earn hundreds of millions of dollars, mostly for the fighters.Mayweather vs Pacquiao Live

Mayweather will receive a substantial portion of his earnings immediately after the fight, said Leonard Ellerbe, chief executive of Mayweather Promotions. He would not disclose how much.
“I will tell you this,” Ellerbe said. “Floyd Mayweather’s check will be a lot more than $50 million. And then it goes from there.”

The contract calls for Mayweather to receive 60 percent of the revenue. Pacquiao will get 40 percent. When all the accounting is done, each man should make well over $100 million, about double the biggest previous boxing payout, demonstrating that boxing’s slow fade in popular culture has not diminished the potential returns of the biggest bouts.

“This is a unique situation, the confluence of time and event — the two biggest fighters in the world coming together,” Ken Hershman, the president of HBO Sports, said.

Mayweather (47-0) and Pacquiao (57-5-2) are generally regarded as the two best fighters, perhaps in any weight class, of the past decade. But tangled in boxing’s familiar knot of egos, contracts and self-preservation, a head-to-head bout looked unlikely as the aging boxers (Mayweather is 38, Pacquiao is 36) moved toward retirement.

A chance face-to-face meeting between Mayweather and Pacquiao at a Miami Heat game in January prompted true negotiations between the two sides, with Pacquiao agreeing to second billing in promotional materials and a lower percentage of the payout.

“We’re both bigger names than we were five, six years ago,” Mayweather said at his gym in Las Vegas on Tuesday. “We’re meeting at the pinnacle of our careers. The time is right.”

The numbers are dizzying, even for Mayweather, nicknamed Money, whose estimated $105 million for two fights last year made him the world’s highest-paid athlete. To keep it straight, HBO and Showtime, rival networks co-producing and co-distributing the pay-per-view event in a rare agreement, have created a central accounting system.

HBO has a long-term contract with Pacquiao, while Showtime has rights to Mayweather’s fights. The only other time the networks worked together in such a way was when Mike Tyson fought Lennox Lewis in 2002.

“They distribute the revenue in accordance with the contracts of the two fighters, so that there is no side money,” Arum said. “We felt that this was the most reasonable way to go. It’s the way we’ve done it to prevent the accusations that we usually get, that this promoter is stealing from that promoter.”

All revenue from the fight — the foreign broadcast rights, closed-circuit income from bars and theaters, ticket sales, sponsorships, merchandise sales and so on — goes into the pot. That will be about $130 million.

The biggest revenue stream will come from the pay-per-view broadcast, sold to households by cable systems and satellite providers at a suggested price of $89.95. Mayweather’s 2007 defeat of Oscar De La Hoya was purchased by nearly 2.5 million households, but expectations are that this one will easily surpass that mark. Some suggest it could be bought and seen in four million homes.

Three million households would bring in an estimated $270 million. Under the deal, cable companies and satellite providers will receive 30 percent to 40 percent of gross pay-per-view revenue, depending on the level of marketing each does.

A majority of the pay-per-view revenue will go to the fighters, minus a small cut (7.5 percent, divided evenly, Arum said) for HBO and Showtime.

When the revenue is combined, the two fighters could divide around $300 million for a 12-round fight that will take less than an hour.

Promoters and television executives said the big payday was a result of pent-up demand to see the top fighters finally fight each other.

“The demand is what’s driving the revenue,” Ellerbe said.

The 60-40 split has a small wrinkle, Arum said. For revenue between $160 million and $180 million, the winner of the fight will get 51 percent ($10.2 million), Arum said, with the loser taking 49 percent ($9.8 million).

Revenue below and above that window will be divided, 60-40, in Mayweather’s favor, Arum said. Ellerbe would not confirm or deny the breakdown, citing confidentiality.

The pay-per-view numbers will not be tabulated until after the fight, but most other revenue streams are roughly set. The gate receipts for the MGM Garden Arena in Las Vegas, where the fight will be held, will be about $72 million.

There will be at least $35 million from international broadcast sales, $13 million from closed-circuit broadcasts at bars around the country and $12 million from sponsorships. Merchandise sales may reach $1 million.

That money is already accumulating.

“We have the account number, and our foreign purchases are already wiring money into the account,” Arum said.

On the other side of the equation — what comes out, and when — the only certainty is that the richest fighters are about to be much richer.

Floyd Mayweather vs Manny Pacquiao Fight Set on May 2,2015

Floyd Mayweather will announce at his teasing convenience that the richest fight in boxing history will take place in Las Vegas on May 2.Mayweather vs Pacquiao Live Stream

All that remains of the long wait for the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world to take on the pretender to that mythical title, Manny Pacquiao, is for Money Mayweather to confirm that it’s on at last.

Mayweather and the Filipino Pac-Man are to be paid a combined purse of $250million for answering the public demand that they finally settle their five-year argument in the ring.

That cash-crazy neon desert Strip has lit up with electric expectation that Mayweather is ready to confirm what has long seemed inevitable.

The right to tell the world is one of his many stipulations in a contract to which all parties are reliably reported to have agreed after an eternity of wrangling.

The deal now done barring a seismic tantrum by Mayweather is also believed to include a rematch clause for a second $300m extravaganza back at the MGM grand in the autumn.

The minutiae of which gloves each combatant will wear, the Olympic standard drugs testing which Mayweather has long demanded and Pacquiao’s acquiescence to a smaller share of the fortune are all included.

The two major cable networks in America – Showtime, who hold a six-fight contract with Mayweather, and Pacquiao’s paymasters HBO – have settled for both broadcasting this extraordinary event

And it remains a major spectacle, even though the world of boxing would have preferred that these two men in their mid-to-late 30s had got it on all these five years ago.

The precedent for two-channel transmission was set when Mike Tyson and Lennox Lewis clashed in a heavyweight bonanza in June 2002.

The final sticking point – which of Showtime or HBO should have rights to the first replay broadcast a few days later – now appears to have been resolved.

The fee for the pay TV subscription in America is expected to be a record $100… or maybe $99.95 if they are feeling generous to the public! The cost for ringside tickets at the MGM Grand Garden Arena will sell at the order of $5000 apiece.

In expectation of the demand the hotels in Vegas have been hiking their room prices for that Mexico national celebration weekend in advance. Thousands of high-rollers, not just from south of the border and the US, but from around the world, have been booking in advance.

With even his lesser share of the booty, Pacquiao’s minimum $100m has been ample incentive for him to concede such trifles as Mayweather – who will receive $150m – taking the lead billing as well as both entering the ring and being acclaimed last by the ring announcer. Although there were fears, justified or not, that Mayweather would prefer not to risk his unbeaten record against the Philippines congressman, who is still the biggest threat to that distinction, the offer seems to have proved too good to refuse.

From a British point of view, it’s an obvious disappointment for Amir Khan to miss out on fighting either one of them, but even he has admitted that he wants to see the fight.

The pair are likely to undertake a tour of some of the planet’s major capitals to help promote interest, and of course supplementary TV sales around the world, including Britain where Sky Sports, BT Sport and perhaps even BoxNation might find themselves in competition with, if not taxpayer funded BBC, then ITV, who could go for pay per view for the first time.

The boost for boxing in this modern communications world will be so huge that it could elevate the hard old game into a major sport on both sides of the Atlantic.

A worldwide of multiple millions, will, of course, spread out from the boxing enthusiasts across the full spectrum of society. The fun and games of all the negotiation and delays appears to be over. Let the blood sport begin.

The one remaining danger, perverse thought it may seem, is that Mayweather will be so enraged by this information leaking in America that he blows the deal and all those millions sky high.

The question now is whether the long-reluctant Mayweather will finally sign on the dotted line for what could be an astonishing $120 million payday for the fighter who flaunts his money better than anyone.

“Your guess is as good as mine,” Arum told The Associated Press. “I don’t want to be antagonistic and say he’s not on board and not going to sign. The representation is that he is on board with this.”

mayweather boxing 2015
Arum said negotiations with Mayweather’s representatives over the past few weeks resulted in agreements on everything from the date and site of the fight (MGM Grand in Las Vegas) to purse split (reportedly 60-40 in Mayweather’s favor) to the type of gloves the boxers will wear.

But Mayweather has yet to personally agree to the fight, and the possibility remained that Arum was publicly discussing Pacquiao agreeing to terms to try to up the pressure on the unbeaten boxer to sign.

“We’re waiting for Mayweather to sign a document saying, ‘Yeah,’ ” Arum said.

Just what Mayweather is thinking remains unclear. Though he declared on Showtime last month that he wanted the fight, he rarely speaks to the media between fights and his manager, Al Haymon, almost never speaks publicly.

Mayweather put out pictures of himself in front of a private jet and his new cars this week along with a picture of his Las Vegas mansion, but saiAt first you had to wonder how he could be so sure of himself. Then you learn McKinney had specialized in Psychology while a student of advanced studies at San Diego State University. He studied the effects of social and cognitive factors on the way individuals and groups perceive, influence and relate to one another.

In other words, he’s studied their past forays and is now certain how Mayweather, Bob Arum and the people who advise them will react. That’s why he’s saying, “It’s a done deal. And why not use the Super Bowl to make the announcement. No annual sporting event has ever gotten as much attention and hype as the Super Bowl.”

The only thing left to ponder is the current Las Vegas “Betting Line” on who will be the one to announce this news and will that person use the words “Drum roll please” for their lead in.
